Huw is Chair of the Liverpool–Manchester Railway Partnership Board, driving the strategic vision for improved connectivity across the North West for the Mayors and regional leaders. Huw is Non-Executive Chair of High-Speed Rail Group and is employed as a consultant to the rail freight sector and for new public rail projects across the UK. 

 Huw formerly served in government as the Minister of State for Rail and Regional Transport. Prior to his ministerial role, Huw spent seven years helping to shape national policy as the Chair, and Member, of the House of Commons Transport Select Committee. He served as a Member of Parliament from 2015 until retiring from political life at the last General Election. Huw practised as a commercial lawyer for 18 years.
